Random and squarecut  are two very different styles of flagstone installation. Random flagstone is a jigsaw puzzle pattern installed by tightly fitting stone of  varying sizes and shapes in a random pattern.

Squarecut flagstone is a formal style installed using flagstone that has been chipped or cut into pre-set sizes of squares and rectangles. The squarecut flagstone is than installed in a random  pattern.
